The life and times of the professional woman and world traveler, Dollie Alexander.
A Short Documentary Film
Emerging from a single interview with Director Moya Bailey’s cousin Dollie Alexander, You Just Watch and See chronicles Dollie’s life from girlhood to achieving her twin dreams of becoming a professional woman and traveling the world. Born in rural Alabama in 1937, Dollie works to achieve her goals within the dejure segregation of the US South and the de facto segregation of the North. She encounters much adversity but perseveres, even saving her own life after what could have been a fatal accident. Dollie’s compelling life demands its own account though her interview is part of a larger project, Misogynoir in Medicine, a docuseries exploring Black women’s treatment as both patients and providers within the US healthcare system.
